The film is the epitome of the situation of our very current world. The machines and information are what’s on the “outside”; we humans, and the things that make us human, are trapped somewhere in the attic. Mad is a source of knowledge in the Italian Renaissance. However, liberal arts have become the new mad. The mad are the artists, and the artists are usually mad. The madwoman in the attic is a very common metaphor used in literature, and here, it is a symbol of humanity, arts, philosophy, and anything that differs us from a machine. “The Renaissance” is part of the film project “Poetic Computation”, which is a 15-minute short film made of 5 independent one-cartridge super 8mm film.
